Eudora Welty was always generous in sharing her talent with others, and early in my career as an artist, she gave me permission to paint my visual images from her words, then graciously supported the resulting shows.

Now, thirty years later after much artistic growth, I am revisiting the project at a much deeper level, taking to heart her advise - not to paint what I thought her visual images were, but to paint my own. I have returned to Mississippi and immersed myself in this series. The following images are mine, the inspiration - Eudora’s.
